Owners of taxis that can run on both petrol and liquefied petroleum gas who are seeking first registration will be granted exemptions from the requirements of being powered by either fuel.
To qualify for the exemption, dual-fuel taxis will have to comply with Euro V emission standards and requirements on gas safety, noise and roadworthiness for first registration.
The Environmental Protection Department said new generation vehicles provide more choices for the taxi industry, reducing adverse effects on the environment.
