Secretary for the Environment KS Wong led a delegation today to visit ‘green’ buildings in Singapore, and learn how the city promotes energy efficiency.
Mr Wong and members of the Steering Committee on the Promotion of Green Building toured the Zero Energy Building, which is self-sustaining. The building runs on renewable energy, using a combination of low carbon and green building technologies, and other innovative designs.
They also met the Singapore Green Building Council's President Ng Eng Kiong to learn about private-public sector partnerships in promoting green buildings and products.
At the Building & Construction Authority, the delegation were briefed on the Green Mark Scheme, which promotes sustainable design, construction, management and operation practices in new and existing buildings.
They also visited buildings that have won the highest rating of “Green Mark Platinum” awarded by the authority.
The delegation will return to Hong Kong tomorrow evening.
