The Environmental Protection Department has rated water quality at 21 beaches ‘good’ for this weekend and 16 ‘fair’.
Compared with last week, Deep Water Bay Beach, Hoi Mei Wan Beach and Hung Shing Yeh Beach have been upgraded from fair to good. Silverstrand Beach has been upgraded from poor to fair.
The department warned many beaches are more polluted than their grades suggest during and after periods of heavy rain. Bathers should avoid swimming at beaches for up to three days after a storm or heavy rainfall.
