LegCo air quality improves

January 18, 2012
Air quality in the Legislative Council Complex has shown significant improvement since air-purging exercises were held on January 15 and 16.

Secretary for the Environment  Edward Yau told lawmakers today the Architectural Services Department conducted a series of air quality measurements between January 14 and 17. The air quality in samples taken on January 14 was worse than in November.

However, he said air quality measurement results from January 17 indicate the positive impact of the exercises. The department will continue with the air purging exercise to further improve air quality.

The department will liaise with the LegCo Secretariat to schedule more works during the holidays and stagger them to reduce the impact to building users.

If possible, work areas will be concealed, with air purging conducted after the completion of works.
