HK to host judicial seminar

The Judiciary will hold the Fourth Seminar of Senior Judges of Cross-Strait & Hong Kong & Macao on September 14 and 15.

 

The main theme is "Challenges & Opportunities for the Courts in the 21st Century".

 

President of the China Association of Judges, President of the Supreme People's Court Chief Justice Zhou Qiang, Chairman of the Chinese Society of Law of Taiwan Tsay Ching-you and Macau Court of Final Appeal President Sam Hou-fai will lead delegations.

 

Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal Chief Justice Geoffrey Ma and the heads of the delegations will speak at the opening ceremony.

 

The delegates will discuss the courts' organisation and human resources, alternative dispute resolution and enhancements to judicial proceedings, the modernisation and application of information technology, and the way forward for judicial co-operation.

 

Launched in 2011, the biennial event provides a regular exchange platform for judicial professionals from Hong Kong, the Mainland, Macau and Taiwan.

 

The last three seminars were held in Nanjing, Taiwan and Macau.
