HK boosting relations: CE

August 24, 2017

Hong Kong can enhance collaboration with Shanghai and Zhejiang in arts and culture, and innovation and technology.

Chief Executive Carrie Lam made the statement to the media today upon her return from Shanghai and Hangzhou.

She said her meetings with officials in the two cities covered their strengthening of ties with Hong Kong in culture and I&T.

Noting the fourth high level co-operation meeting between Hong Kong and Shanghai will be held in Hong Kong next year, she said it will allow for the exploration of more cultural exchanges and interaction between young people from the two cities, and business investment.

Mrs Lam said she had a good discussion with Alibaba Group Executive Chairman Jack Ma in Hangzhou, and hopes the group can help promote technological innovation and smart city development in Hong Kong.

Speaking on Typhoon Hato, Mrs Lam thanked the government departments and public organisations who helped with safety and order during the storm.

She wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the typhoon, including two Police officers.
