CS visits Gov't Records Service

Official archives:  Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung inspects the Government Records Service archive repositories.

Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung visited the Government Records Service today to meet its staff and learn about its work and services.

 

Accompanied by Director of Administration Kitty Choi, Mr Cheung was briefed by Government Records Service Director Zachary Lo on the implementation of government records management programmes, the preservation and conservation of public records, and the promotion of public awareness of local documentary heritage.

 

Mr Cheung toured the department’s archive repositories, and records conservation and preservation areas, as well as public service areas.

 

He commended its staff for their good work on government records management and the provision of research and reference services to the public.

 

Mr Cheung reiterated the Government's commitment to maintaining the integrity of government records, and preserving records with archival value and making them available to the public.
