Gov't to build consensus: CE

November 22, 2016

Chief Executive CY Leung says his administration will implement comprehensive policies and build consensus within the community, as requested by President Xi Jinping.

Speaking to the media today on his return from the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation meeting, Mr Leung said to build consensus the Government will consult the community, District and Legislative councils, and public advisory bodies on its policy initiatives.

Mr Leung said his administration will spare no effort to do its job, noting Mr Xi has endorsed its and his work.

Regarding his APEC trip, Mr Leung said the leaders of the APEC economies are concerned about how the UK's exit from the European Union and the US presidential election result will impact globalisation and free trade.

He said the Government will promote free trade and develop the economy to improve people's livelihood.
