Financial Secretary John Tsang has expressed regret over the behaviour of some Legislative Councillors during last week's oath-taking ceremony and called on them to respond to the criticism they have received by issuing an apology.
Speaking to reporters today after his visit to the US, Peru and the Netherlands, Mr Tsang said it was naive and ignorant for those legislators to act such in such an undignified manner, including making insulting remarks about their own nation, when taking the oath.
What they did showed they have no respect for the people who voted for them or the legislature, he said, adding he hopes they atone for their behaviour.
