Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Prof KC Chan visited Yau Tsim Mong District today to learn more about the latest developments there and met with District Councillors.

He first visited the Red Cross Headquarters and its Humanitarian Education Centre.

Completed last September, the new headquarters is the first comprehensive humanitarian platform in Hong Kong providing a wide range of services such as blood transfusion, disaster relief and preparedness, as well as first aid and health training.

He then went to Lui Seng Chun, a Grade I historic building now serving as the Baptist University School of Chinese Medicine.

The building was among the first batch selected for the Revitalising Historic Buildings through Partnership Scheme launched in 2008.

He also toured the new Yau Ma Tei Police Station which opened in May.

It has a new-generation report room, barrier-free access and a baby care room. It also has a number of energy-saving features and renewable energy technology.

Prof Chan then met Yau Tsim Mong District Councillors to discuss funding for minor works, the activities of financial intermediaries, and the procedures for opening bank accounts.
