CE orders threat inquiry

(September 09, 2016)

Chief Executive CY Leung has ordered an investigation into reported threats received by newly-elected lawmaker Eddie Chu.

Speaking to the media today, Mr Leung said he has asked the Security Bureau and the Commissioner for Police to look into the case immediately.

He said Hong Kong is a law-abiding and safe society, and nobody should threaten the safety of others, regardless of their political beliefs.

He said the Government will not tolerate illegal and violent acts.

Mr Leung added he does not know why Ken Chow dropped out the Legislative Council election, and expressed regret over claims Mr Chow has made, saying they are unfounded.
