Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen says a rational and objective attitude should be adopted in discussing the issue of “Hong Kong independence” in schools.
Speaking to reporters today Mr Yuen said students should be told Hong Kong’s constitutional and legal position under the Basic Law, and the question of whether “Hong Kong independence” complies with the Basic Law should be discussed.
Government bureaus and departments can seek Department of Justice advice on legal matters when necessary, but matters on education should be handled by the relevant officials, he added.
