Secretary for Security TK Lai and Vice Minister of Public Security Chen Zhimin have co-chaired the second meeting on improving the reciprocal notification mechanism.
Meeting in Shenzhen today, they reviewed the operation of the mechanism and discussed how to improve it and how to meet public aspirations in Hong Kong and on the Mainland.
They agreed to uphold the principle of "one country, two systems", to abide by the Constitution, the Basic Law and related laws of both places, and adhere to the principles of acting in accordance with the law, embracing differences, identifying mutually beneficial grounds and protecting human rights.
These principles will be put in writing into the new notification mechanism.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Wong Chi-hung, Commissioner of Customs & Excise Roy Tang and Director of Immigration Erick Tsang, Assistant Director of the Operations Department of the Independent Commission Against Corruption Tong Wing-tak and Department of Justice Law Officer (International Law) Amelia Luk attended the meeting.
Also attending the meeting were representatives from the Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office, the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the General Administration of Customs.
