Clement Cheung visits DSD

Secretary for the Civil Service Clement Cheung visited the Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works today to inspect the work of the Drainage Services Department.

 

Mr Cheung met with Drainage Services Director Edwin Tong and the directorate staff.

 

He then toured the Main Pumping Station rooftop garden to learn about its facilities including double-tray sedimentation tanks, flocculation tanks, sludge cake silos and the marine vessel for sludge transportation, Clean Harbour 1, built under the Harbour Area Treatment Scheme Stage 2A.

 

Mr Cheung visited the Main Control Room to understand how staff members monitor various stages of sewage treatment processes round the clock.

 

He toured the main pump motor and deodourising facilities.

 

Mr Cheung also met staff representatives of various grades at a tea gathering. He praised them for their efforts and encouraged them to continue to improve drainage services in a cost-effective and environmentally-responsible manner.
