Chief Executive CY Leung says the Government needs to balance retirement protection needs and long term financial sustainability.
Speaking ahead of the Executive Council meeting today, Mr Leung said the Government has conducted a citywide consultation exercise to collect public opinion on retirement protection in the past half year.
He thanked those who gave their views and said the Government will collate and analyse the opinions collected and table a policy direction.
Speaking on the Brexit referendum, Mr Leung said as an open, international and small economy, Hong Kong might suffer a great impact if Britain chooses to leave the European Union.
