Chief Executive CY Leung met Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev at the Chief Executive's Office today.
Mr Trutnev is also Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District.
Mr Leung said Hong Kong and Russia enjoy close economic and trade ties, adding that the city can act as a super-connector linking Russian enterprises with the Mainland market to open up more business opportunities.
Noting that Russia is a Belt & Road country, Mr Leung said the two sides can enhance economic and trade co-operation to tap the vast development opportunities brought about by the initiative.
He also said the two places can step up co-operation on innovation and technology, tourism and culture.
