National People's Congress Standing Committee Chairman Zhang Dejiang visited the Development Bureau today to learn about its work.

Accompanied by Chief Executive CY Leung, Mr Zhang was briefed by Secretary for Development Paul Chan on the bureau's work on land supply and the Lantau development, as well as on Hong Kong's planning vision and strategy.

Mr Zhang also spoke with the bureau's staff to learn about their work.

The bureau forecasts that 18,000 private housing units will be completed this year, up 61% on last year. Next year's figure is expected to remain at the same level.

In the coming three to four years the estimated potential supply of private housing in the primary market is 92,000 units, representing an increase of more than 41% compared with the 65,000 units when the current-term Government took office.
