Clement Cheung visits Sha Tin

May 06, 2016

Secretary for the Civil Service Clement Cheung visited Sha Tin today to meet with youngsters, the elderly, and District Councillors to learn about community issues.

He first visited Hang Seng Management College where he was briefed on its facilities and development.

The college maintains close ties with the community by taking part in indigenous village cultural research and encouraging student participation in community affairs.

He met with the college's students and Sha Tin Youth Service Corps members who shared their experiences in last year's summer internship programme supported by the Civil Service Bureau and exchange programmes to the Mainland and overseas.

Founded by Sha Tin District Office in 2011, the 450-srong service corps encourages young people to harness their potential, care for the needy, learn more about their district and form networks to build a harmonious community.

Mr Cheung then met with District Council Chairman Ho Hau-cheung and other council members to get an overview of district development.

He lastly visited inmates at the Jockey Club Centre for Positive Ageing, which serves dementia patients in the eastern New Territories.
