Grand unveiling:  Shandong Vice Governor Wang Suilian and Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Raymond Tam open the Shandong Liaison Unit.

Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Raymond Tam opened the Hong Kong SAR Government's Shandong Liaison Unit today.

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, he said the unit was established to further strengthen Hong Kong's ties with the province, enhance government-to-government work, promote exchange and co-operation between the two places, and provide support for Hong Kong residents and companies in the area.

 

Mr Tam noted Shandong is an important and economically vibrant Mainland province that is rich in cultural heritage, adding that the unit will foster closer ties between Shandong and Hong Kong.

 

Hong Kong has been maintaining close economic relations with the province and ranks first among all regions investing in Shandong in terms of number of projects, contract amount and foreign investment in actual use.

 

Other officiating guests included Shandong Vice Governor Wang Suilian, Shandong Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office Director Xue Qingguo, Shandong Deputy Secretary-General Wei Huaxiang, Jinan Vice-Mayor Zhang Haibo, HKSAR Government Permanent Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Chang King-yiu, Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office (Shanghai) Director Victoria Tang and Shandong Liaison Unit Director Novia Wong.

 

Mr Tam also met with Ms Wang to discuss boosting exchanges and co-operation between Hong Kong and Shandong, and spoke with Hong Kong businessmen and students in the province.
