Acting Chief Executive Carrie Lam has called on legislators to approve extra funding for constructing the Express Rail's Hong Kong section at today's Legislative Council Public Works subcommittee meeting.
Speaking to reporters ahead of an Executive Council meeting this morning, Mrs Lam noted that while the majority of MTR Corporation shareholders endorsed the funding arrangement yesterday, the last hurdle is the Finance Committee's approval of the $19.6 billion in additional funding.
She said the funding is needed to continue the project and urged lawmakers to make use of today's meeting to discuss the request so that it could be submitted to the Finance Committee.
