A record number of people have voted in the 2015 District Council elections, which Chief Executive CY Leung said attests to the increasing importance of the District Councils’ function and role.
Mr Leung was speaking during a visit to the CCC Kei Wan Primary School Aldrich Bay counting station in Eastern District with Electoral Affairs Commission Chairman Justice Barnabas Fung last night.
Mr Fung noted that about 1.4 million registered electors had cast their votes, with the highest turnouts seen in Tsuen Wan, Southern District and Sham Shui Po.
