Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Raymond Tam has appealed to the more than three million eligible voters to cast their ballots in the District Council elections.
He made the appeal after casting his vote in Sai Ying Pun this morning and expressed hope the polls would run smoothly.
Mr Tam noted that there have been some concerns about the voter registration system’s review mechanism and cases of electors’ addresses being amended or revised without their consent or knowledge.
He said the Government is considering refining the system and will bring out public consultation proposals shortly, so that a discussion on measures for improving the entire voter registration system could be held with legislators by year end.
