Chief Executive CY Leung has led a delegation to Beijing to attend the commemorative activities of the 70th anniversary of the victory of Chinese people's resistance against Japanese aggression.
Mr Leung and the delegation joined a commemorative rally and military parade in the morning.
Helicopters escorting the national flags across the sky in an array formed the number 70 to kick off the parade.
The parade included 27 armament formations passing through Tiananmen Square and 200 aircraft crossing the sky. A range of new armaments were also shown.
Pigeons and balloons were released to the sky to represent world peace to close the ceremony.
Mr Leung also attended a reception at noon.
