Chief Executive CY Leung met Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank President-designate Jin Liqun at Government House today.
He congratulated Mr Jin on his appointment, and said the bank is an important initiative by the nation’s leaders to promote infrastructure development of the countries along the "Belt & Road" area and other Asian jurisdictions.
He said Hong Kong can leverage its world-class professional services in banking, accounting, law and engineering as well as its extensive experience managing large-scale projects to contribute to the bank.
He hopes that under "One country, two systems" Hong Kong will soon become an AIIB member.
Mr Jin thanked the Hong Kong SAR Government for its support for AIIB, adding that with all members’ concerted efforts the bank become a world-class international institution.
