Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen has defended the training of prosecutors, refuting claims magistracies have become a training ground for junior lawyers.
Speaking to reporters today, Mr Yuen said proper training is given to prosecutors, especially for junior lawyers from private practice, and they are assessed before being allowed to do prosecution work at magistracies.
In recent years, a programme has been run jointly by the Law Society, the Bar Association and the Department of Justice to prepare junior lawyers before they take up prosecution work.
