Acting Chief Executive Carrie Lam today expressed her deep sorrow at the passing of Cantonese opera master Lam Kar-sing.
She said Mr Lam had dedicated his life to Cantonese opera and made great contributions to enhancing the conservation and development of the genre.
"His passing is a great loss to us, however, his spirit will last," Mrs Lam said.
She extended her condolences to Mr Lam's family on behalf of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
Secretary for Home Affairs Lau Kong-wah also expressed his profound condolences on the passing of Mr Lam.
