Security law not applied to HK

July 01, 2015

The National Security Law adopted by the National People's Congress Standing Committee will not be applied to Hong Kong.

In a statement today, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region said Hong Kong has the responsibility to safeguard national security and this will be fulfilled through local legislation in accordance with the provisions under Basic Law Article 23.

The current-term Government has no plan to enact laws in respect of BL23, it added.
