The turnover rate of Hong Kong's politically-appointed officials is very low when compared with other governments.
Chief Executive CY Leung made the statement today in response to questions on the resignation of the Secretary for Home Affairs' Political Assistant Caspar Tsui.
Briefing reporters ahead of the Executive Council meeting, he said officials have resigned in the past for numerous reasons, such as for family or career development, but the turnover rate is low.
He said politically-appointed officials are resolute in serving the public, despite the immense workload and challenges of the job.
The Government will announce any politically-appointed staff changes when it is appropriate, he added.
