Working together:  Chief Secretary Carrie Lam meets Shenzhen Mayor Xu Qin.

Chief Secretary Carrie Lam hopes Hong Kong and Shenzhen will continue to deepen co-operation in the coming year to produce mutual benefits for both cities.

Mrs Lam co-chaired the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Co-operation Meeting in Shenzhen today with Shenzhen Mayor Xu Qin.

They reviewed the achievements made in the past year and the directions for co-operation in the coming year. The key points include the Qianhai development, financial services, youth co-operation and medical services.

Carrie Lam said this year is a critical year for comprehensive deepening of the nation's reform, which will bring more opportunities for co-operation between the two places.

Both sides will continue to push forward Hong Kong-Shenzhen financial co-operation under the National 12th Five-Year Plan and the newly signed Guangdong CEPA.

Hong Kong and Shenzhen has agreed to include youth as a key co-operation area, particularly in internship and entrepreneurship.

For medical services co-operation, the Hong Kong Government is liaising with the University of Hong Kong to launch a pilot scheme to allow Hong Kong seniors to use the Elderly Health Care Voucher to pay for services provided by the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital. It will be formally launched in mid-2015.
