The Government delegation led by Chief Secretary Carrie Lam visited Quanzhou and Xiamen today and met officials and students there.
Mrs Lam attended a lunch hosted by Quanzhou Mayor Zheng Xincong to discuss co-operation between their cities. She encouraged more Quanzhou companies to use Hong Kong to expand overseas.
At Huaqiao University Quanzhou Campus, where about 800 Hong Kong students are studying, Mrs Lam met some of them to learn about their lives and studies. She also visited a student dormitory and a Hong Kong cultural exhibition organised by those students.
She departed for Xiamen in the evening to meet with the city's mayor Liu Keqing.
Mrs Lam said since the launch of the Xiamen-Shenzhen railway in December 2013, transportation between Hong Kong and Xiamen has become more convenient and efficient, further enhancing the flow of people and cargo between the two places.
