New bureau will help youths: CE

November 27, 2014

Chief Executive CY Leung has called on the Legislative Council to endorse the Government's proposal to create the Innovation & Technology Bureau.

Speaking to the media during his Korean duty visit today, he said the Government is committed to developing Hong Kong’s creative industry so young people can bring their talent into full play.

However, the proposal to create the bureau has been delayed by filibustering from some Legislative Council members.

Mr Leung called for the council to expedite their scrutiny of proposals relating to social and economic development, and livelihood matters.

Meanwhile, his visit programme in Seoul today focused on culture and innovation, starting with a tour of Dongdaemun Design Plaza, a venue for showcasing design. He then met the Korea Creative Content Agency head.

He also met with local political and business leaders and learned they are confident in strengthening economic ties with Hong Kong.

Mr Leung will visit the Samsung Innovation Museum before heading to the airport.
