Official tour

Official tour:  Secretary for the Civil Service Paul Tang (left) visits the Application & Processing Division.

Secretary for the Civil Service Paul Tang paid a visit to the Legal Aid Department today to learn more about its work.

Mr Tang met with the Director of Legal Aid Thomas Kwong and heard that the department is committed to ensuring no one who qualifies for legal aid is denied access to justice because of lack of means.

He visited the Legal & Management Support Section under the Policy & Administration Division, where he learned the department continues its implementation of electronic information management solutions including content and record management integration.

He toured the Application & Processing Section and the Information & Application Services Unit where he saw that, under the Home Affairs Bureau's guidance, the scope of the Ordinary Legal Aid Scheme and Supplementary Legal Aid Scheme were expanded to cover more types of proceedings.

Mr Tang also visited the Litigation Division's Crime Section and Civil Litigation Section 1 to gain a better understanding of its litigation services.

He encouraged the staff to continue offering their high quality, efficient and professional services.
