Commissioner of Police Andy Tsang says the Police have very strict guidelines on the use of force, and will ensure that only the minimum amount is used when it is necessary.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference today, Mr Tsang said officers have a duty to protect members of the public, and will take the resolute action needed to ensure that this is done.
He added that the actions of the protesters charging against the Central Government Offices have resulted in injuries to security guards, police officers and the demonstrators themselves.
