Secretary for the Civil Service Paul Tang visited Central & Western District today to learn about its latest developments and to meet its District Councillors.

He first visited the 121C Plastic Recycling Centre in Sai Ying Pun, which is part of the Source Separation of Waste Programme.

With funding support from the Environment & Conservation Fund, the centre serves 210 buildings in the district, collecting eight tonnes of waste plastic per month.

The 121C Project also works with voluntary organisations to provide vocational training to youngsters by recruiting them as environmental protection and waste recycling ambassadors.

Mr Tang spoke with the project's participants to learn about their work and their community service experiences.

He then visited PMQ, a Conserving Central initiative, and the original site of Central School.

Before concluding the visit, Mr Tang met with District Council members to hear their views on local matters.
