Chief Executive CY Leung today expressed his sadness over Marvin Cheung’s death.
Mr Cheung held a number of key positions before and after the reunification, including member of the Legislative Council and Executive Council, Airport Authority Chairman, and University of Science & Technology Council Chairman.
He was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star in 2008.
Mr Leung said Mr Cheung made tremendous contributions to Hong Kong in the areas of public and financial services, and education.
He extended deep condolences to Mr Cheung's family, on behalf of the Government.
Secretary for Transport & Housing Prof Anthony Cheung said he was also saddened by Marvin Cheung's passing, and praised his commitment and dedication to the Airport Authority. Secretary for Education Eddie Ng said his passing is a great loss to the higher education sector.
