CE to attend war victory tribute

September 01, 2014

Chief Executive CY Leung and senior government officials will attend an official commemoration ceremony on September 3 at Hong Kong City Hall Memorial Garden to mark the victory of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression.

It will be held at 9am, and will include a Police Band performance, a choir singing the national anthem, a Police Rifle Squad gun salute, silence in mourning and wreath laying.

About 700 people including judicial officers, Legislative Council members and war veteran group representatives will attend the ceremony. No public viewing area will be set up there. Radio Television Hong Kong will provide a live broadcast of the ceremony.

The Police will implement temporary traffic arrangements at the northern section of Edinburgh Place outside City Hall from 5.30am until the end of the ceremony. Only vehicles with a Closed Road Permit will be allowed entry.
