Chief Executive CY Leung says he and other Government officials do not condone unlawful protest behaviour.
Speaking to the media before the Executive Council meeting today, Mr Leung noted that the Occupy Central movement's action would be unlawful, and all officials should oppose it.
He said it is a personal decision for officials to participate in a signature campaign the Alliance for Peace & Democracy in Hong Kong has launched.
Details concerning the second round of the public consultation on constitutional reform will be defined after the National People’s Congress Standing Committee has determined in its August meeting whether there is a need to amend the method for selecting the Chief Executive, he added.
