In light of the ageing population and shrinking labour force, the Central Policy Unit is encouraging academics and researchers to identify factors that affect decisions of local women and mature people in joining or leaving the labour force, and to explore policies and measures that could encourage them to re-join the labour force or postpone retirement.

Tertiary institutions and think tanks can submit research proposals on these topics for potential funding under its Public Policy Research Funding Scheme.
