Rita Lau will succeed Nicholas Ng as Public Service Commission Chairman for a three-year term from May 1, the Government announced today.
Secretary for the Civil Service Paul Tang said Mrs Lau is well-suited for the job, with her wealth of knowledge and experience, and distinguished administrative and management skills. He also thanked Mr Ng for his outstanding contributions and valuable advice during his tenure.
The commission is an independent statutory body that advises the Chief Executive on appointments, promotions and discipline in the civil service.
Mrs Lau joined the Government in 1976 as an Administrative Officer. She was the Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development from 2008 to 2011.
