Financial Secretary John Tsang says lawmakers' 2,000 proposed amendments to the Appropriation Bill will cause delay to its passage and risk disrupting public services.
Speaking to reporters today, Mr Tsang said the vote on account resolution would provide the Government a 20% advance on the annual budget, which would last until the end of May. Some departments and bureaus would face difficulties starting from June, he added.
"We need to deal with that problem," he said, adding he was certain the legislators were just as concerned as he was in not wanting to disrupt the services the Government provides to the people of Hong Kong.
