January 22, 2014

Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen says the Government would like to hear from all sectors of society on the constitutional development consultation.

Mr Yuen, Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Raymond Tam and Executive Council member Bernard Chan today distributed consultation leaflets in Central.

Mr Yuen said the Constitutional Development Task Force will continue to promote the consultation, and will enlist other members of society to help.

On the enactment of Basic Law Article 23, he said the Government has many priorities, and its time and resources will be spent on more urgent issues.

He added the Government has a constitutional duty to enact Article 23, and will do so at a suitable time.

On the Central military barracks trespassing case, he said it would be treated strictly in accordance with the laws of Hong Kong, using available evidence.
