Poll backs Gov’t housing policy: CE

June 18, 2013
Chief Executive CY Leung says a recent survey has shown Hong Kong people support a development project such as the planned North East New Territories New Development Area.

Speaking to the media today, Mr Leung said Chinese University yesterday unveiled a survey on people's opinion of Hong Kong’s land supply.

He said about 80% of respondents believe Hong Kong has a land-supply shortage and needs a development plan such as the North East New Territories New Development Area.

Mr Leung said the findings match the Government’s understanding of the issues, and therefore the administration will continue to increase land supply to resolve the housing, high property price and rent problems.

He also reiterated that the Government would handle the Edward Snowden case in accordance with Hong Kong’s law and established procedures.
