Health chief denies home irregularities

May 14, 2012
Secretary for Food & Health Dr York Chow has asked the Buildings Department to follow up on the 2008 inspection records of his home on Mount Kellett Road in response to an allegation against possible unauthorised building works to its balcony. In a statement tissued today, he said he moved into the premises in 2004 and had not made any alteration or additions to the balcony. The whole building had a facelift in 2008. Before the renovations began, the Buildings Department inspected the building.
“On the advice of the department, I removed a canopy which was installed inside my premises before I moved in. The department did not give further advice on whether there were other items that needed to be followed up,” Dr Chow said.
“To put all things beyond doubt, I have contacted the department to follow up on the 2008 inspection records. I will also appoint an authorised person to inspect the premises.”
