CE: relief measures to be implemented
January 19, 2012
Chief Executive Donald Tsang has pledged to implement relief measures before his current term ends, providing more details of the new home-ownership scheme and transport concessions for the elderly.
In a Legislative Council question and answer session today, Mr Tsang said Hong Kong must strengthen its ability to be resilient against global economic uncertainty.
He said relief measures will be provided to assist enterprises and keep jobs.
Mr Tsang said the Government will implement the measures to improve people’s well-being.
He said the new air quality objectives have been announced and the Government would aim to provide more details on the new home-ownership scheme, old-age allowance and the transport concessions for the elderly.
The Government would ensure the Chief Executive and Legislative Council elections this year are conducted smoothly and fairly, he said, adding the current administration would ensure a smooth transition to the new government.
After the new Chief Executive was elected on March 25, Mr Tsang said he would discuss with him new policies or resources, but the designated Chief Executive Office could not interfere with current government.
Mr Tsang said Hong Kong must strengthen its status as an international financial centre and offshore renminbi centre to encourage investors to choose the city as a gateway to Mainland China.
