60 arrested in illegal worker raids

Forty-three illegal workers and 17 employers have been arrested in a Police, Labour and Immigration Department crackdown.

Officers raided 26 stalls at the New Year Fairs in Causeway Bay, Mong Kok, San Po Kong, Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan and Sheung Shui today.

Forty-two illegal workers were arrested while selling flowers and pot plants at the fairs while the other was arrested in a North Point porcelain shop.

Forty-one came from the Mainland, mostly Guangdong, Fujian and Guangzhi. The other two could not produce any proof of identity.
