Man jailed for bogus bribe report

Fanling Magistracy has jailed a 30-year-old jobless man one year for making a false corruption report against two Police officers.

Lam Man-kwong yesterday pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice. Police arrested him June 5, 2006, over an assault case and he was released on bail. On June 23 Lam complained to the Independent Commission Against Corruption the station sergeant who released him and a senior inspector solicited a $50,000 bribe as reward for not charging him.

The ICAC investigation found the station sergeant did not do so and Lam was interviewed under caution on June 26 on suspicion of making a false report.
